Well, I am thrilled to report that I have moved on another phase of this pregnancy, and it is a scary one! The nesting has begun!
I always figured that they meant that when pregnant women started nesting, that meant working on the nursery... picking out baby furniture, bedding, etc. But no! No! I am in full-on crazy lady mode. Last weekend I kept thinking of so many things I wanted done around the house that I finally had to start a list (goodness knows I can't remember anything on sheer mental power alone). And, this list-- holy moly-- has stuff like "re-grout bathroom tile" and "clean out and reorganize" pretty much every room, closet, or cabinet in the house. Bless our little house, it is lacking in the storage department... you know, like having a pantry... so I'm slashing and burning.
So, in the middle of all this, Jason is studying to get his CAMS certification (it is a banking thing.. Certified Anti Money-Laundering Specialist... that may or may not be it exactly). The test for this certification is in early February. So, Jason, being his most diplomatic and appeasing self, asked fearfully if he promised to help with everything on the list, could he wait until after his test to get started. Of course I, since I was not at that moment in a hormone-fueled state of hysterics, relented. So, Jason, run while you can, because it is about to get buck-wild up in the Rother house.
Otherwise, not too much going on in our world. I feel good and I like to make the baby dance (fun now that I have a belly to bounce around). Although Jason likes to see it go, he also reminds me that it will probably have a case of Shaken Baby Syndrome (notice the capitals... like I've verified that this is the correct medical term). But-- I say-- this way we'll know it will have rhythm!

More Thupping
Just wanted to drop a quick line about Monday's Dr. appointment. Just as I had predicted, it wasn't a big one... just got to hear the heartbeat again. This time, though, it sounded so different! I thought it sounded like a horse galloping! I guess there's more room for the baby to get its heart going in its new remodeled and expanded digs. (Yes... hello there belly! Where did you come from all of a sudden?!?) Also, the appointment has been made for the big reveal- we answer the boy/girl question on February 9th! I'm so excited... I can't wait to start thinking about decorating the nursery. Oh decisions, decisions...

Finally, Schminally!
I know this post is a long time coming (Mom!), but boy, has it been crazy! We finally got Christmas over with, and now we've got to get on to baby stuff. But, I do want to say that we had a really awesome holiday season with all of our family and friends.
We had Jason's whole family over to our house for dinner and early Santa Claus for the kiddos. That was the 21st. Of course, Jason had been out of town with work and was supposed to fly in two days before that celebration, but he got caught up in all the bad weather and didn't get home until the day before (after traveling for about 28+ hours and some lost luggage). But, we got it all together and he had plenty of time to cook (heehee!).
Then, we went up to Mom and Dad's for Christmas Eve Dinner, which was really nice and of course, her decorations were rocking! Then, we did the usual for our Christmas Day activities... breakfast and presents at Yo and Al's and lunch with the whole extended family at MeMaw and PawPaw's. That's always nice, since we only usually get all the cousins together only a few times a year.
It was weird to think that our Christmas routine may be changing... Santa Claus? Us?!? Man, I still want to get Santa, not be Santa!!! I don't know... I guess it will be a whole new type of fun.
So, now that we're on to baby stuff...
We have got to get serious! Some things we have got to get busy on: finding daycare (yikes), finding pediatrician, decorating nursery (bye bye guest room furniture!), and getting all that baby stuff. Jason and I went to Babies-R-Us today-- just to look around-- and wow, there is a lot of junk babies need! They have more stuff than... I don't even know what! I asked Jason where in the world we were going to put all that stuff. He said you don't put it any particular place, it's everywhere, and that's why our house will always look like a tornado went through it! Whee.
I go to the Dr. tomorrow, but don't think it's anything exciting... just checkup. Our appointment after that will be the one where we find out what is in Whitney's belly (sex-wise, anyway!!!)
Finally, a quick baby shout-out to our friends Allison and Cade who had their little one come early... an early Christmas present! Campbell Marie Festavan was born 12/22. I got to see her a week ago and she is the cutest and tiniest little thing. Congrats you two... Lead the way then share what you know!
