Lovely Asheville, NC

Well, I'm finally writing about our awesome Asheville trip. We left last Sunday the 7th and drove up. The drive was really nice, though I think we drove through one thousand National Forests. That would have been fine, except that the roads were really wind-y (hello, Dramamine!) and there are no food places... I though I'd starve before we found a restaurant!

The Biltmore at Night
Sunday evening we went to the Candlelight Christmas tour of the Biltmore... it was gorgeous. Then, Monday morning we got up and went back for more! Really, the evening tour doesn't give you enough time, so we went back and did the audio tour. Jason and I are such history dorks that we could have stayed forever and looked at every detail. But, our heels were crushed, so we moved on!

I squish your (not) little house!

Then, we toured the Winery (we were some tourin' fools!) and then Jason did the wine tasting... which was fun times for me, as you can imagine! That about did me in... I was pooped!

Tuesday, we shopped around the Historic Biltmore Village and then drove to the Grove Park Inn. Another history-filled place, so we were in hog heaven! They also had some crazy Gingerbread House Competiton and you would not believe what these people can make with food!

We drove home Wednesday and I can really, honestly say that it was one of the most relaxing vacations I've had in a while. I'm usually OCD, cruise-director-like planner for these things, but I decided that we were going to have a nice, leisurely time. We slept in and I didn't over-plan. We just did what we felt like, and quit when we wanted... I even took a nap every afternoon!

thup-thup, thup-thup, thup-thup

Okay, okay, I really didn't mean to wait this long since my last post, but I'm just now getting a chance. We just got back from our Asheville trip a few hours ago, but I'll post on that a little later when I get my pictures downloaded. What I want to talk about now was our awesome Dr. visit Friday morning!
I know I got all over-excited about getting to see the baby- we didn't get to do that just yet... but, we got to hear the heartbeat! It was so crazy!!! As you can see by my post title, that's the best description I can give: thup-thup! It's funny that when Jason and I were talking about it later, I remembered it a lot slower than he did.
Dr. Freeman told us that we wouldn't have an ultrasound until my visit after next, which will be when we get to find out what we're having. Until then, I've decided that when people ask me what I want to have, I'm going to say that I really hope it's a Bama fan...

First things first...

Well, if you're reading this, then you've heard our good news. After many years of two-someness (and driving Mom crazy with waiting), we're expanding our little Rother unit. Amazingly, Jason and I were able to keep the secret for weeks- and you thought I couldn't do it! We're about 11 weeks along now and I think I'm finally starting to get past the "feeling like you-know-what" part. It was touch and go there for a few weeks, and Jason has been ridiculously accomodating and some would even say spoiling! (Of course, I deserve it-- I'm making a baby!)
We go tomorrow morning for our second Dr.'s appointment and get to do our first ultrasound! So, we're excited to finally see this little thing "in Whitney's belly" (Jason named the blog, FYI). As of now, the tentative date for the debut of our little stinker is June 27. So, we'll post pics. Hopefully it won't take too long, but it took us weeks to post our first stuff on here... but, this probably is the first time in quite awhile that I've been awake after 8:00 p.m.!
Sunday morning we leave for a trip to Asheville, NC. We're going to visit the Biltmore and do some mountain sight-seeing. Hopefully, we won't get snowed in there! We're pretty excited, since we figure this might be one of the last trips we take with just the two of us!
